Upgrading Your Skills to CRM 2016
Already know your way around CRM 2013? Considering an upgrade, or recently completed one? Want to know more about the features that were released in 2015 and 2016?

This course will teach you all the things that a business analyst, system customizer or administrator ought to know about the new and changed configuration features, right up to 2016 Spring Update. You will find out what features have been enhanced, what else has been added and when to use these to take advantage of everything Dynamics CRM has to offer. This will help you redesign your customisations to be as efficient as possible, ensure things are easy to maintain and troubleshoot, reduce reliance on custom code, and improve your users’ experience.

This course covers things that were new or changed after the release of 2013, in major releases (2015 and 2016) and updates right up to 2016 update 1. Some big features, some small changes - and there’s lots of them!

We will not be covering in depth all of the new OOB features in the application such as changes to the product catalog, or SLAs and entitlements. Nor will this class cover all the optional add-ons such as portals, Voice of the Customer, Field Service, Project Service, Fantasy Sales Team etc. The focus here is on enhancements to the platform that you can use for your customizations and “XRM” solutions.

Do you become anxious when you are asked to get up in front of a group to speak? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this course is for you!

You can become part of the Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) community by holding an appropriate technical certification and demonstrating instructional skills. This class satisfies the instructional skills requirement.

In this two-day interactive course, you will work with a team of experienced MCTs to learn how to become and excel as a Dynamics trainer. You will be involved in a variety of exercises and will be active participants in the class. You are encouraged to speak in small groups and in front of the class. You will need to prepare and deliver a short (approximately 10 minutes) presentation. We will use the presentation to provide you with constructive feedback and advice so that you can learn about your own delivery techniques. We will help you create an action plan to improve your presentation and instructional skills. You will receive a copy of the video so that you can see what your audience sees and improve your skills.

As an added bonus, the Microsoft Learning Experiences (LeX) group is providing vouchers for all students that successfully complete the course that entitle you to a 50 percent discount for the MCT application fee!

Learning Objectives:
  •          Understand your audience.

Security Deep Dive
This course is focussed on all aspects of CRM security to improve your user experience and protect your data integrity.

You will learn how to configure the core security model using users, teams, business units and security roles, and some tips and best practices for how to do this in a way that is both easy to maintain and easy to troubleshoot. Some of this will be revision for some delegates, so we will cover the basics pretty quickly before getting to the topics that are often misunderstood and looking at some standard approaches for modelling common requirements.

You will also see how this security model is evaluated “under the hood”, and therefore how your design choices might impact performance. We will then look at “regular” sharing, and Access Teams, and how cascading behaviours in 1:N relationships create inherited and implicit shares. Again, this will include understanding how this affects the security and integrity of your data, as well as performance. We will also consider Hierarchical Security Modelling and where this can be useful as an additional layer to your overall model, and how this is evaluated by the platform too. Along the way we will look at several common scenarios for security requirements and possible solutions, pitfalls to avoid, and tips, tricks and tools to use to help you manage your CRM security efficiently.

Building Better CRM Charts
Creating charts in CRM is really easy, but going beyond the basics can be frustrating – the GUI chart editor is very limited, and the results are often not the most effective for visualising data and supporting data-driven decision making or exploratory analytics. Not to mention some of the “quirks” that get in the way from time to time.

In this course you will learn some best practices for making better design choices when creating charts in CRM, and how to customise the chart XML to give your data visualisations those finishing touches and professional polish. By working through some fairly standard patterns you will see for yourself how easy it can be to make simple but effective changes to chart layout and formatting in the XML. You will also discover some tips and tricks to deal with some of the quirks (such as eliminating palette shift), and how to “cheat” to create charts that may not seem possible at first (Gantt-style timelines, comparing this year against last year, or “conditional formatting” for example).
